David Johnson joined Insley and Race, LLC in July of 2008. He focuses his practice on healthcare, products liability, hospital and general liability litigation. David worked for 19 years at several Atlanta-based law firms. He has participated in numerous contested matters in Georgia Superior, State, Juvenile and Probate courts and appeals in the Georgia Supreme and Court of Appeals. He counsels clients on hospital risk management and compliance issues and gives numerous in-service lectures to physicians groups and hospital staff.
At Georgia State University , David earned a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies degree and published his honors thesis on the politics of the Olympics. He was inducted into the Mortar Board National Honor Society. As a student at the University's College of Law , was a member of the Law Review and served as its Assistant Managing Editor. He held two officer roles with the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He was named Outstanding Student Litigator by the American Board of Trial Advocates and won the American Jurisprudence Award for litigation. While in law school, David launched his legal career with his first job as a judicial clerk intern for Justice George T. Smith of the Georgia Supreme Court.
He has volunteered for local civic groups such as the Georgia State Graduate Health Law Network, Georgia State Leadership Campaign and Wellstar Foundation's Corporate and Business Relations Committee. In addition to several bar associations, his professional memberships have included the Federalist Society, Atlanta Legal Aid, American Health Lawyer Association, Defense Research Institute and Georgia Society of Hospital Risk Management. David resides in Atlanta with his wife and their young son. His personal interests include martial arts, bicycling and golf.
